In lakes, wetlands, and watersheds — aquatic vegetations provide cover for aquatic animals such as fish, amphibians and aquatic insects, produce oxygen via photosynthesis, and serve as food for our beloved herbivorous wildlife. While historically we have been concerned with "weeds" in the lake getting in our way - we must respect the benefits they can provide also.
It is important to understand our Little Long Lake vegetation plays a vital role in the overall health of our lake. Learning about aquatic vegetation and monitoring changes from year to year can give us a great understanding of what is happening in our water, and clues to what we can do enhance or manage the vegetation and improve water quality.
On October 5, 2024 at the Monthly LLLWA Board Meeting, a presentation was provided to share the results of our recent professional Aquatic Survey. We would like to thank our members for their annual support and donations, which allow us to learn from these efforts. If you were unable to join us, you may view the presentation video shown at left.
